To address the pressing issues in regulating recalls of consumer products sold online, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has recently issued the Announcement on Further Strengthening the Oversight of Online Consumer Product Recalls.

The announcement set out new requirements for the supervision of consumer product recalls, including requiring e-commerce operators to establish and improve mechanisms for collecting and handling information on product defects, mandating the regular dissemination of recall information to e-commerce platforms, and detailing the obligations that e-commerce operators must fulfill upon receiving recall notifications.
