Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned Apple (AAPL.US) analyst at TF International Securities, wrote on social platform X that the iPhone 17 series outpaced last year's iPhone 16 series in terms of first weekend pre-order demand.

Kuo said that planned production for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 in 3Q25 is up about 25% YoY, with delivery wait times expected to be roughly a week longer than last year, signaling stronger demand for these three models.

As for the iPhone Air, although inventory is available and demand for it appears weaker than that for the iPhone 16 Plus last year, planned 3Q25 production for the iPhone Air is about double that of the iPhone 16 Plus, meaning more time is needed to assess actual sales performance.

Kuo also revealed that the iPhone 17 Pro Max remains the most in-demand model, with 3Q25 production about 60% higher than that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max last year, though both of their delivery wait times are similar.
